Our good friend from Ignite Denver, John Wilker, is bringing the 360|intersect gathering to Seattle’s Triple door on Saturday April 27th and Sunday April 28th.
360|intersect is focused on the intersection of creativity and technology. Speakers are technologists from around the world, talking about the things they do away from the keyboard, that make them awesome at the things they do at the keyboard.
In what became the very first standing Ignite Seattle talk, office fitness expert Larry Swanson gives a great introduction to the health benefits of standing desks and presents a number of inventive DIY standing desk designs. Be sure to stand up before you hit play.
It’s easy to hold onto anger and resentment for a lifetime. But why? Especially when forgiveness feels so damned good. Seattle’s Matthew Lawrence shares his story of getting unstuck through forgiveness in this great talk from Ignite Seattle 18.
Ignite Seattle 17 is the second OUTDOOR IGNITE – so dress appropriately.
Ticket required for entry (so DO print out your receipt and bring it). Advance ticket sales guarantee your entry to Ignite; some tickets will be available at the door based on capacity limites.
This is an ALL AGES event.
Ignite Seattle 17 will be happening on Fremont Market day. We highly recommend checking it out before coming to Thing Out.
If you had five minutes on stage what would you say? What if you only got 20 slides and they rotated automatically after 15 seconds? Around the world geeks have been putting together Ignite nights to show their answers.
Ignite was started in Seattle in 2006 by Brady Forrest of O’Reilly Radar and Bre Pettis of Make. Since then 100s of 5 minute talks have been given across the world. Besides Seattle, there are thriving Ignite communities in Portland, Sydney, Boulder, Baltimore, NYC and lot more. Hundreds of people turn out for our Seattle Ignites.
Tom Music – a great human being and a dear friend of Ignite Seattle – passed away last night.
Tom went into the hospital about a month ago. It looked like things had turned around, but then they took a turn for the worse.
Friends will be gathering this Friday for a vaguely Irish-style wake in Tom’s honor. Jana, Tom’s wife, has details on that over here. She’ll also be posting details there about the pending memorial service for Tom when they firm up.
Again, here’s Tom delivering one of the best Ignite talks we’ve ever hosted.
If you have been around the Seattle geek community for long, it is likely that you’ve run into Tom Music. Tom is a developer, writer, speaker, musician, and one of the nicest guys you are ever gonna meet. A couple of years ago, Tom was diagnosed with double lymphoma. He had been in remission for [...]

Not sure if you’ve noticed, but we’re getting a bit more organized here at Ignite Seattle. So much so that we’ve identified a few things we could really use some help with for our next Ignite on Monday, June 14th.
